Fun with chalkboard paint.

Here are some projects I worked on over the weekend. I have seen people using chalkboard paint all over blogland and I wanted to join in the fun. I am so easily swayed by peer pressure and these peers have no idea I exist. Oh, the memories of high school are coming to haunt me. I digress...on to crafts.

Here is an old syrup bottle. This is one of the best gifts I have ever received. You see, this came from love. A little girl in my preschool class wanted to get me a gift. She went through their recycle bin and found this. Then she wrapped it herself in newspaper. She was so proud to give it to me and my heart melted. I slapped on some chalkboard paint and now I love it even more.

Here is a plastic cup that came from the 'drink of the day' on the cruise ship. I brought the cups home for my kids. The novelty has worn off for them but I thought the bright colors would be great for our tiki themed porch. This was my first attempt at covering up the cruise line name. On the next one I will try taping off the area first. And I learned to go with several light coats. The paint ran on this one because I was heavy handed with the paint.

Finally, this is my pride and joy. I saw this somewhere in blogland and had to give it a try. I found the tray at a yard sale for $2. So, if I messed it up, I wasn't out much. But I loved how it turned out after I put the paint on it. Next I think I might put a Bible verse on it.

That's it for today.
Have a happy day.

Crafty copycat

I am late getting this post up today. And I know I will hear from you because y'all hop on my site and just keep hitting refresh until something new pops up. Really, you can get a life. I am not the beat all to end all. Just kidding. Just because I do that doesn't mean everyone else does that.

As I said Monday... What?! I can't believe it is Wednesday. I was supposed to write yesterday. Oh yeah... I was too busy blog surfing myself to write. Sorry.

Anyhoo... I am sharing with you my copycats of everything I have seen in blog land. At some point I will reference the original but that takes effort on my part. And I just don't have it right now. Plus if you see how the other folks did theirs and how nice they are... let's just say that mine come up a little short.

This first craft is a picture put on a 4x4 tile with modge podge. I saw this and loved it. You could use different style and size tiles for different looks. I went with the 16cent tile from Home Depot. Do you see the swirls on the picture. That is from too much Modge Podge. This was my first time using the stuff and I didn't know how much to use. I ended up making thes tiles of my preschool kids for their Mother's Day gifts.

These are glass bead things you find in the floral section and I put scrapbook paper on the back and added a magnet. These are fun.

Next is another modge podge craft. It is scrapbook paper on a clipboard. First I spray painted the metal part with glitter paint because I thought it would look better. Then the paper. Which is wrinkly because I thought I could seal it up while it was wet. Wrong. Finally I stenciled and added ribbon.

This is the back. It looks better because I let the first application of the modge podge dry before topping it off.

Overall, I am pleased and will doing each of these again. Heads up to you... don't be surprised if you see them as gifts

Have a happy day.

Arts & Crafts

During our week of recuperating I thought crafting would be fun. I love monograms, so I thought we would try stencils. Here is some of our work. Not bad considering we started these at 3 in the morning. The medications got our sleep all jacked up.

Each kid had their choice of paper. I just spray painted some old frames to match. In the case of Sammy's I also spray painted an old mat to match.

I also arranged some flowers for my man to take to some friends when we were invited to dessert however, I couldn't go because the kids were not up to it. Here they are.

He forgot to take them. Oh well, I tried. So it became our Easter bouquet. Yippee for us.
Hope y'all had a great Easter.

Have a happy day
